Laurie Wyche-Abele

Laurie Wyche-Abele joined Giannascoli & Thomas in 2012.  Laurie focuses primarily on family law matters including representation in divorce, custody, adoption, support, guardianship and dependency.  She represents clients at all levels, from initial proceedings in the Courts of Common Pleas of Chester, Montgomery, Berks and Lancaster counties, through trial and on appeals to the Superior, Commonwealth and Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania. In addition, she is admitted to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where she represents clients in federal court.  Laurie has over 20 years of experience, she has devoted herself to helping her clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives, and views it as an honor to help others through the legal process.  She uses her abilities to skillfully negotiate and/or litigate, if necessary, issues that arise in matrimonial cases. Laurie is particularly experienced in complex equitable distribution cases in divorce and complicated custody cases.

In addition to representing clients in family law matters, Laurie is a Certified Family Law Mediator and serves as a court appointed custody mediator in Chester County. Her experience in both litigation and mediation gives her a unique insight into the importance of resolving family law matters without court intervention whenever possible.  Laurie focuses on reducing conflict and stress for families.  Many family law matters can be resolved through mediation between the parties without the acrimony and expense of litigation.

Laurie came to Giannascoli & Kent after spending six (6) years with one of Chester County’s premiere family law attorney’s, Madeline H. Lamb, Esquire. In 2011, Laurie was named as a Top Lawyer in the field of Family Law in Main Line Today by her peers. Prior to working with Madeline, she worked for the law firm of MacElree Harvey for almost 20 years.  At MacElree Harvey, her practice was primarily in family law but also included civil litigation with a special focus on employment law and Social Security Disability.  She has represented a variety of clients in discrimination suits before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission as well as the Social Security Administration. She also practices unemployment law.  This added experience in different areas of the law has served her family law clients well because issues often arise regarding employment and disability in matrimonial cases.

Laurie was elected as a Township Supervisor in West Bradford Township in November of 2017. She is presently serving a six-year term and enjoys working for the people of West Bradford. Prior to her election, Laurie was dedicated to serving her community both in her capacity as an attorney and a long time resident of Chester County. Most of her community activities have been focused to help children in our area to have opportunities that they otherwise may not have. Laurie has served on the following non-profit boards:

  • West Bradford Youth Athletics (WBYA) Board from November 2012 to December of 2017, chairing the scholarship committee and bylaw/ethics committee.
  • Chair of West Chester’s Police Athletic League’s Board of Directors
  • Board of Directors of YMCA of the Brandywine Valley.
